We are located
on the southwest corner of Muskegon Lake (Bluffton Bay) nestled on the
base of a peninsula. the bay extends to the channel connecting us to
Lake Michigan
. You can observe the daily activity of one of Michigan's surviving commercial fisheries and possibly even participate in the catching, processing, and producing fish that become Legends -----maybe even sample some of the product. The fishery is operated by the Jensen family in the style and manner established by one of the "Crazy Danes" My grandfather. Some 95 years ago he started fishing using the experience and training from participating in the "family business" on the North Sea off the coast of Denmark. Those were the days of sail power and wooden ships---only the men were steel. They weathered the storms--natural as well as man-made and persevered. Commercial fishers had to adapt, "learn the ropes", acquiring the skills to support the gear, nets,and vessels that are all the components of the overall industry. |

in our community is the areas premier Charter Fishers
Fleet. These
experienced Captains have proven and extensive records of
catching fish consistently. Their years of experience developing
techniques and skills to produce "boxed out" trips with a variety of
species. Targeted fishing opportunities to catch King (Chinook) /Coho
Salmon, Steelhead / Browns / Lake Trout, Walleye, and Perch are
seasonably available. Trips can be arranged to accommodate,
individuals,
families, or large groups. Charter Sailing is also active from our docks. You can experience sailing on protected waters of Muskegon Lake or venture into the "big-water" of Lake Michigan. Experienced sailors can charter a vessel to operate under their own command, or a Captain can be retained to provide a relaxed --wind-blown-- adventure. Visit our Fish Market stocked with fresh, fresh frozen, and smoked products. Take them with you or arrange to have them delivered to your door. Coming by boat--arrange for a transient slip at Bluffton Bay Marina if you like what we have to offer maybe you can arrange to make us your home port. Needing a beverage or something to fill the stomach??----maybe a visit to the Bluffton Bay Boat Club located in the lower level of Bayside Center. |
